RFC Seraing v. FIFA: A victory for CAS and FIFA

In a decision of 20 February 2018, the Swiss Federal Tribunal (‘SFT’) settled two important issues relating to sport. The first one relates to the independence of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (‘CAS’) with respect to FIFA and the second relates to FIFA’s rules prohibiting third party ownership (‘TPO’). Pierre Turrettini, Senior Associate at Borel & Barbey, discusses the importance of both cases.
