Changes to Spanish gambling advertising regulations

The Spanish gambling regulator, the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (‘DGOJ’), published in November 2017 a draft Royal Decree on Commercial Communications for Gambling Activities and Responsible Gaming (the ‘Decree’) for public comments. This Decree is specifically designed to regulate gambling advertising and responsible gambling in Spain, and includes among its provisions rules in respect of the advertising of gambling products by celebrities and the identification of commercial communications, for instance. Albert Agustinoy and Elisa Lorenzo of Cuatrecasas analyse the draft Decree and the next steps.
