“Fairness and openness”: the shape of things to come in the GB-licensed sector

The past few months have been somewhat challenging for the GB-licensed gambling sector from a regulatory point of view; the latest developments have been the GB Gambling Commission’s consultation announced on 25 January 2018, ‘Proposed changes to licence conditions and codes of practice linked to the fair and open licensing objective,’ and then a week later the Competition and Markets Authority’s (‘CMA’) announcement in regards to unfair bonus promotions, following the formal undertakings made to the CMA in this area by William Hill, Ladbrokes and PT Entertainment respectively.
