Russia targets anonymisation tools to prevent the circumvention of gambling website blocking

A new Russian Law to ban the use of tools that allow access to blocked sites has passed through the Russian Parliament and has been signed by the Russian President. The Law looks to make it more difficult to access an illegal gaming or betting website once it has been blocked. Dr Lana Haworth of MMS Law analyses this Law in the context of Russian authorities’ attempts to crack down on those who attempt to circumvent site blocking, and the legal framework behind such blocking.
