UK introduces legislation to tax freeplays under RGD

On 5 December 2016 the UK Government published draft legislation as part of the Finance Bill 2017 (‘Bill’) in respect of taxing freeplays for Remote Gaming Duty (‘RGD’) purposes. Gavin West, Director at Ampla Consulting, a company specialising in advising on VAT and other indirect taxes to the betting and gaming industry, considers the effect of the proposed legislation and the extent to which issues raised during the consultation on this matter have been addressed.
