FTC action against IoT provider D-Link: an administrative overreach?

Theodore F. Claypoole and Taylor Ey of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice LLP discuss the continuing effort of the US Federal Trade Commission (‘FTC’) to protect consumer security and privacy when it comes to the Internet of Things, focusing on the FTC’s recent action against D-Link. The authors argue that this action was an administrative overreach, as no concrete consumer injury was included within the enforcement action.
